Santana Row is a retail and residential community in San Jose, California.
Many larger cities have communities of "Mixed Use" a common
term for this time of building use and planning.
The exterior facades at this new community "Santana Row" demonstrates the diversity and beauty of plaster. There are many different type of plaster systems in the exteriors, as well some of the interiors.
- The lobbies
for a residence have a few different interior veneers systems ranging
from smooth as glass to rough as travertine.
- Many of the retail stores have veneers in the shop entries.
- Corbels at the eaves and soffits are made of EPS foam and plaster.
- Parapets are also made of EPS foam over the Portland Cement "Brown coat" - the second coat of the plaster system.
- Most of the soffits are finished with a direct applied plaster system over Densglass Gold board.
The buildings at Santana Row may illustrate ideas for your next design. Plaster can be very diverse and used in many ways to achieve the architectural appearance you want to achieve. Textures and foam systems are numerous and offer you a way to implement the creativity you deliver.
